Loop Road
We started our day with some Cuban cuisine. We drove on the Tamiami trail to get to a restaurant named Versailles.
We had been told to eat here the last time we were in Miami but did not get an opportunity to get too. We parked the car walked up and there was a Maitre De. All dressed up. We thought well crap, we are very undressed for this in our t-shirts and shorts. They may not let us in. π
He took our name we had a seat and they called us in for seating! Yay Us!
This place was super fancy inside. Beautiful Chandeliers, etched mirrors and tile work throughout the whole place. It was impressive.
.
The food was fantastic I got the Cuban Sandwich
Dad got an omelette and home fries they were the bomb! Yummy!
Brenda had herself some scrambled eggs and pancakes. Anyone who has ever traveled with her knows she very conscientious about food choices when going to be on the road. This was about as risquΓ© as she gets.
We thought we were gonna get hit with a huge bill because this place was so fancy. Ended up being the least expensive meal we had and it was delicious!
Now that are bellies are full we are off to fulfill an adventure that was delegated to us back in October of 2021. Hence the reason for our February return. While in the the Everglades the last time we wanted to catch one of the ranger talks. After it was over we hung around to take some pictures (imagine that, I took a few pictures) tee hee hee. We started talking with the Ranger he told us if you really want to see a lot of alligators and cool birds you need to come back in February. He was also the one who told us about Loop Road. Me with my partially acquired Jr. Ranger badge felt that this was a task we could conquer! We were going to find us some alligators!!! During our drive we got to see 12 alligators and we were pretty stoked about it. That brings us to this beautiful Sunny February 8th, 2022.
First reptile we spot is a cute little turtle.
And so it begins what we had been waiting to see!!!
This here is a Great Egret. I probably took a hundred pictures very similar to this with the trees reflecting off of the water. I love the cypress where you can see the root ball coming out and branching under the water.
This bird is a Snowy Egret
This is the alligator that wished my sister Mackenzie a Happy Birthday!πππ
I think it looks like he is smiling.
This little guy was playing peek-a-boo
This one was playing hide and seek but we peeked and saw where he was headed.
This one is coming out for fun in the sun!
This pic is one of my favorites
This was Brenda’s view ever time there was an alligator on the drivers side of the vehicle. Once I got the picture(s). I would crawl back up to the passenger seat to take more pictures.
